Personality
Rainstar has an undying sense of duty. She has one purpose in life, and she knows it- to serve IceClan. If she did ever take a mate, he would be a rarity and an indulgence for her- another little reason for her to be happy. She would rather die than betray her clan, knowing that if she does perish defending a clanmate, it was an honorable death. But what she desires is an honorable life. She wants nothing more that to look at the ranks of the dead, after having served in one life or nine, and hear them tell her, "You've done well."
However, Rainstar's whole M.O. makes her stubborn. It's a blessing and a curse- she only truly accepts the opinions of cats that she fully trusts, and even theirs are second tier to her own. Inwardly, Rainstar despises being told what to do, but she's tempered that fire to do her job, and look where it got her! So Rainstar definitely has a temper, but she has a rein on it. Get it? A RAIN on it? Oh I'm funny.
FOUR STRENGTHS
- impeccable sense of duty
- loyal
- polite
- strong (emotionally- conceal don't feel)
FOUR WEAKNESSES
- conceals, doesn't feel, very poor technique
- stubborn as a mule if they knew what mules are
- fiery but on the inside, keeps her temper in check
- has a hard time listening to others

History
Rainkit was born to Cloudspark of IceClan. She was one of three kits in her litter- Rainkit, Sparrowkit, and Whitekit. Rainkit was always very close to her brother, moreso than her sister. Whitekit could always manage to figure out what was making Rainkit upset, while Sparrowkit was often the cause, some way or another. Either way, Rainkit loved both of her siblings, but if drunk at a party, would fall into Whitekit's arms.
What Rainkit and her crew didn't know what that Cloudspark had a secret. A secret that they wouldn't discover until many moons later. But nevertheless, their kithood was spent oblivious and free with their mother and their father, a gray and white tom named Patchstone.
When Rainkit and her littermates became apprentices, Rainpaw was given to the leader of the day, a pale gray tom named Nettlestar. She was incredibly proud of this fact, and having little to none of the filter that she possesses now, proceeded to brag about "NETTLESTAR taught me this" and especially at gatherings, "my mentor, THE LEADER", and things like that. Generally, she was a brat. She loved the fact that she was the leader's apprentice, but she hated being told what to do.
After one particularly grueling training session, in which Nettlestar was trying yet again to teach his apprentice something, Rainpaw had hissed, "Just pitch me into a battle and I'll learn as I go!" Nettlestar had paused, studied her, and told her to follow him. Rainpaw, snorting, had followed.
Nettlestar took her down the mountain, not speaking a word. It seemed as though he was heading for ForestClan's treetops, but he veered right, down a steep cliff. He ducked through a brush and told her to follow.
Inside there was a cave, a cave that looked as though some giant god had taken an ice cream scoop to the side of a mountain and the forest alike. Perfectly smooth ground, littered with shimmering flowers, and the lushest grass. Nettlestar pointed at a tiny creek that ran through the back of the Hollow. "Drink."
Rainpaw did as she was told, because there was something humbling in the air there. She took a few laps of fresh cold water, then closed her golden eyes. When she woke, there were cats there next to Nettlestar. One of them padded forward- he couldn't have been that much older than her. His name was Wren Foot, and he was barely more than a shadow. He told her about how his older sister, Ice Bird, had formed their clan, but about how he himself had believed that the uniformity was unnecessary. Wren Foot had thought that cats would be better off figuring things out on their own, and the only reason he stayed with IceClan was because of Ice Bird. And then he shifted to reveal a long, angry scar down his side. Wren Foot revealed that the scar had come from a battle. Ice Bird had taught everyone how to fight, except for Wren Foot, who had insisted that he didn't need it. Wren Foot looked at Rainpaw sadly and told her, "I can't tell you what to do, and truly, I don't think anyone ever will be able to. But please. Don't end up like me"
Rainpaw truly woke up then in a cold sweat. Her pelt flattening, she approached Nettlestar. The pale gray tom didn't say a word, merely looked at her. With a flick of his tail, the pair headed home.
The next morning, Rainpaw learned more than she had in 4 moons of being an apprentice. And although she watched Nettlestar attentively, all she could see were the pleading orange eyes of Wren Foot, begging her not to be like him. Rainpaw never lost her rebellious streak, but as she began to learn from Nettlestar, she realized how deeply she cared for her Clan. She didn't want to end up like Wren Foot, nothing more than a sore memory to those who had known him. She wanted to make other cats happy, even at the extent of losing that gift for herself. So Rainpaw dove into her training, and she developed an immaculate sense of duty. Every day, she was up at dawn and down at dusk. She made a promise to herself- a promise to devote her life to her clan, so that no one would end up like Wren Foot. Everyone would feel that they had a purpose, as strongly as she felt hers.
Rainpaw became closer to her littermates, letting them spill to her, giving them advice, and trying to let herself loose around them in general. Eventually, Rainpaw, Sparrowpaw, and Whitepaw became Rainflight, Sparrowclaw, and Whitespark. Rainflight loved her name, but pretended that it didn't matter.
Rainflight quickly became an admirable warrior as well as foe. She worked twice as hard as anyone and brought back twice as much prey, and fought as hard as she could in any battle. She became respected in her clan and in others, and at only 18 moons old, Rainflight's insight was being asked for by the battle council. However, not even the battle council could have prepared her for what she and her siblings were about to discover.
Rainflight and Whitespark were hunting. They ran into Sparrowclaw, who left her border patrol to join them. They wandered down to the TideClan border to try and find water voles, but instead, they saw their mother's snowy white pelt. Whitespark bounded forward to say hello, and when Cloudspark turned around, fur fluffing in alarm, the three could see clearly behind her. They could see the TideClan warrior who had been nuzzling her.
Cloudspark looked at him, her blue eyes scared. The TideClan warrior lifted his chin and cocked his head, looking at the three. Rainflight realized that they had the same eyes. This cat looked exactly like Sparrowclaw, and like her without any white. All that Whitespark could do was look at Cloudspark and say, "Patchstone isn't our father, is he?"
The TideClan warrior introduced himself as Stagwhisker. He told them that he had been watching them from across the border, and was so proud of how his kits had become such fine warriors. Of course, they would be free to visit him-
But Rainflight had had enough. She lost control. She began to yell at Cloudspark, about how could she, about the code. When Stagwhisker tried to step in and defend Cloudspark, Rainflight whirled on him and raked her claws over his face, leaving a permanent scar over his muzzle. "Explain that to your clan," she had spat, before casting one more glare at Cloudspark and running away.
She found herself carried to the Star Hollow, where she drank the water and waited desperately for sleep. She found herself greeted by Wren Foot.
"I did what you told me to," she had said. "Why is this happening to me?"
Wren Foot sighed. "I wish it didn't have to be you, but this is a reminder. Your Clan matters more than anything."
"I know that," Rainflight replied. Then she frowned. "I knew that already. Why aren't you helping me?"
She woke up angry and returned to camp. Along the way, she composed herself, recreating her bright-eyed, smart, cool young warrior caricature. She greeted her siblings, gave her mother a glare, and immediately volunteered to get out of camp.
When she was 20 moons old, Rainflight got an apprentice, a little tom named Harepaw. The white tom had tall black ears and a short black tail- he was aptly named. Harepaw was much like Rainflight in that he didn't like being told what to do, but Rainflight wasn't too worried. She saved his life in an avalanche by picking him up like a kit and scrambling out of the way, and although he was embarrassed in the moment, he respected her afterwards, and training proceeded smoothly. Rainflight never told him that the avalanche was staged- she'd gotten Whitespark and Sparrowclaw to start it up.
At the age of 24 moons, Rainflight became deputy. It had been six moons since she had seen Stagwhisker, and she was all too ready to forget about the TideClan warrior. However, when TideClan warriors began hunting on their territory, Nettlestar and Rainflight agreed that it was prudent to attack. The patrol set out- Rainflight, Nettlestar, Cloudspark, and a few other warriors- Ibisleap and Owlwing. They got to the border, progressed into the territory, and found a patrol of TideClan warriors. One of them was Stagwhisker.
Nettlestar calmly explained why they were there. The leader of the TideClan patrol had snarled and attacked. Rainflight was tackled, but after sending the pale brown she-cat scampering, she'd sat up to find Stagwhisker with his jaws in Nettlestar's throat. He paced back, jaws stained with blood, and let Nettlestar's limp body fall, but that wasn't the worst part. The worst part was that Cloudspark ran to them, but when Rainflight watched her mother attack Stagwhisker, her claws were sheathed. With a wrenching cry, the silver deputy had struck, shoving her mother out of the way and swiping at Stagwhisker with all her might. She remember yelling something about giving him a scar to match the first. As she backed him up towards the river, Stagwhisker's hind paw slipped. Rainflight watched, heaving, as her father fell and hit his head on the icy rocks.
And so the river ran red.
Rainflight turned and raced back to Nettlestar's side. She vaguely recalled pleading for him to wake up, but he didn't. And he wouldn't. Rainflight knew that Stagwhisker had taken Nettlestar's last life. The deputy heard a wail and turned to see Cloudspark race to her mate's unmoving form, but Rainflight felt no remorse. She knew that Cloudspark would never forgive her, but she didn't care. She knew that Sparrowclaw and Whitespark were on her side.
It was only as she and Ibisleap (Nettlestar's daughter) were carrying the tom's body back to camp that it hit her. Rainflight was going to be the leader of IceClan.
She returned to the Star Hollow for the third time in her life to receive her lives. She got one from Nettlestar, one from Wren Foot, and several from dead IceClan warriors. Her final life was from Stagwhisker, and it was a life for forgiveness.
Pathetic.
Rainstar has been leader for 6 moons.
