Dawn was breaking over the treetops. Sunlight, faint and chilly, was filtering down through the leaves and branches. On the forest floor, shadows began to emerge, slinking out from tightly woven dens, and pulling themselves out from between logs. A cat began directing others around, his green eyes bright and calm. "Okay, clan, we're ready to start the day, yeah?" he meowed, nudging a she-cat as she walked by. "You three, over there- go ahead and take a patrol to the Unclaimed Land border. I want to keep the rogues out, you hear? And you three- don't look at me like that, it's time for patrols, you know that- go hunt by the ForestClan border. It's best to stay in the woods during leaffall and flush out what we can."Sootwing curled his tail neatly around his paws, sitting in a satisfied manner. He twitched an ear as he nodded the patrols out of camp. Then, glancing into one of the mostly empty dens, he spotted the unusually pale pelt of Curlpetal. Padding over to his clanmate, Sootwing prodded the silvery she-cat with one paw. "Did someone replace you with a kittypet?" Sootwing asked teasingly. "Come on, everyone else is up. Let's go hunt by the IceClan border."Red

Curlpetal laid in her nest, rolled up in a ball as her ears lay flattened againdt her head. She hoped that, if she were small enough, the deputy would forget her and leave her alone. Alas, luck was not on her side today. Anxiety burled in her belly as the tom teased her, suppressing a tremble. It was just teasing, right? She wasn't about to get exciled because of sleeping in, was she? The she-cat lifter her head to face him, forcing her fearful expression to a soft smile. With a sigh, she pushed herself to her paws, her curled ears standing up. "Can't a warrior ever sleep in?" she complained, her paws rooting themselved to the ground. She cocked her head, then dipped it, holding her voice cool "Alright, you lead."Feather

Sootwing gave an approving glance at Curlpetal as he sat back on his haunches. The dark gray tom licked a paw and ran it over his ear as Curlpetal replied in a cool, less than grumpy tone. Sootwing had always been intrigued by the pale she-cat; as a half-kittypet, you would think that Curlpetal would be lazy or annoying, but Sootwing had never known a kinder cat. Curlpetal was always willing to help, which, Sootwing hated to admit, he and his littermates had used to their advantage during their apprentice years. Like that one time.... well, Sootwing didn't like to talk about it. Sootwing rolled over on his back as Curlpetal stood, then landed on his paws, prancing on his toes before lifting his tail and leading the way out of camp. "So, did you hear about ForestClan having a new leader?" Sootwing asked, his stepping rhythm accelerating as they cleared the camp perimeters. "I hear she was the old leader's kit- I think her name's Amberstar. Not a bad looker either."Sootwing cast Curlpetal a glance out of the corner of his eyes. The tom knew that Curlpetal might be sensitive to things like that, and he didn't want to distract her right before a hunt. Red

Curlpetal waited patiently for Sootwing to finish whatever he was doing, silently counting the pebbles on the ground. She followed the tom out of camp, making sure to place her paws lightly. Her fur spiked up as he started talking. "Erm.. no, I didn't hear." She replied, then flicked her ear. "Amberlight did fine as deputy, from what I had heard, I hope she keeps good relations with Nightclan." The leaders kit.. Curlpetal wished she could have that privilege. Where people would just stop assuming she was a no-good warrior. His next sentence shocked her. She placed her paw down louder than she should, snapping a twig underpaw. The fur on her spine bristled, and she forced it to lay back again. "I guess." She croaked, then cleared her throat. What was up with her? She bottled up her angry outburst, they were supposed to be hunting, after all. Annoyance still bubbled inside her. Who talks about other she-cat's looks while being with another she-cat. That's plain rude. "I hope you're not planning to break the code with her." She mewed casually, trying to ignore the gnawing feeling in her belly. What if he did try to break the code and run off with the Forestclan leader. Would Curlpetal know? And if she did know, what would she do? What would Falconstar do? Who'd be new deputy? Feather the title... high school musical........

Sootwing's pace was a mixture between a jaunty trot and a stray-cat strut- the eminence of a warrior. He kept his eyes on Curlpetal from the side, his tail raised for her first portion. It lowered abruptly at her loud, froglike croak. Sootwing blinked, affronted at the pale warrior's next words. "How low to the ground do you think I keep my belly?" He asked indignantly, glaring at her. "Do you take me for a snake? You know I'd never do something like that! Just because I think she's pretty doesn't mean that I'd jeopardize my- my life. My brother and sister, my clan, my friends! Honestly, Curlpetal- you take things too seriously."Sootwing snorted and shook his head. She didn't honestly think that he'd ever run off with a ForestClan cat, did she? Red absoLUTELY

Curlpetal scoffed, her ears flattening to the back of her head. Oh no, now he activated her overemotional mode. The worst mistake he would ever make in his life. "I beg your pardon?" She growled, her claws digging into the ground. "Oh, ofcourse, I'm in the wrong." Her tail tip started twitching as her eyebrows furrowed, anger starting to spill over. "I don't know, you seem like the cat to run off with another clan cat. To break the code just for your own selfish reasons." She scoffed again, fury blazing in her eyes. "Seriously, Sootwing. What do you expect me to say? Oh wow, you think a cat is hot, congrats for you." She snarled, then lashed her tail, swinging her head to the side. Feather

Sootwing paced a step backwards as his normally meek clanmate threw- well, a hissy fit. "I'm making conversation!" he protested. Then fury hardened his cold green eyes. "I seem like that kind of cat? Wow, tell me how you really feel! For StarClan's sake, Curlpetal, I think all she-cats are attractive! The way you carry yourselves with more certainty than any tom could- why shouldn't I comment on that? My Clan is my life. If you think for even one second that it's not, then you're more than welcome to crawl back to whatever kittypet mother dumped you in the forest in the first place."He realized what he'd said- he had gone way too far. He tensed his muscles, crouching slightly in a submissive gesture, while almost tangible lightning flickered around their atmosphere. Red

The smaller she-cat froze at his words, then her head began to fuzz with anger. How dare he... How dare he! Who did he think he was! Her eyes lit with fury, and she had to dig her claws into the ground so she wouldn't scorch them across his face. Her lips bared in an angry snarl and her tail started lashing. "You.. you..." her voice wavered, then the words clicked into her mind. "YOU ARE SUCH AN INSUFFERABLE FOX-HEART!" she screeched, her ears flattened against her neck as she towered above him. "How dare you say something as inconsiderate as that! I was brought here! Everybody wants me, but nobody.. nobody wants you!" She let out another hiss, then turned away. "Leave me alone, you don't deserve to be near me." with that, she ran off into a random direction, ignoring any scents of danger around her. Feather R I p

To be completely honest, Dwight didn't know where he was.
He'd finally worked up the courage to go into the woods after Silky. His housefly had stared putting everything in big brown boxes- even his scratching post!- and he remembered how Maisy's had done the same thing. He felt dread pooling in his stomach as they put his favorite toy in a little box. They couldn't move! He'd never find Silky from anywhere else! So it was now or never.
Dwight's collar was chiming as he trotted through the woods. Well, it wasn't exactly a trot. It was more of a frightened skitter, but he was doing his best. He turned around a tree, then a bush, then a tree, then a bush. He recognized a leaf and realized he was going in a circle. He then jumped straight into said bush when he heard a loud, angry voice yell. "...Don't deserve to be near me!" He then watched, dumbfounded, as a white blur flashed by him.
"Hey, wait!" he shouted, running after her as his nose caught up to him. He couldn't be certain, but she smelled like the gray tom had that took Silky all those years ago. Maybe she knew where Silky was!
"Are you mad?" he asked, jogging to keep up. "I need help. My name is Dwight. What's your name? Hey, slow down!"

Curlpetal's angry movements slowed down and she huffed, on the verge of tears. Then a familiar, yet oh so strange voice hit her ears. The scent of kittypet overwhelmed her and she narrowed her sharp golden eyes, spinning in place with her pelt bristled and her claws unseathed. Her eyes widened as she noticed who the tom was.
"..Dwight?" she mewed, her voice small and uncertain. She carefully stepped closer to the ginger tabby kittypet, her eyes sparkling. "What are you doing here?" Realizing what she was doing, she jumped back, her tail lashing. "You're.. not supposed to be here! It's dangerous."
